Hi all thought I would share this email from Hall & Woodhouse with you in regards to the de havilland.
Thank you for your very kind comments regarding the wine and relaxingatmosphere at the De Havilland Arms. I was obviously very disappointed to read your comments regarding the food and the further comments that had been placed on the forum. I share some of the frustration listed by members that have posted comments on the forum. We do use fresh ingredients, and most of the dishes are prepared and cooked at the pub, not micro-waved bought in meals as is suggested. However, this means little if the food the customer receives is of poor quality. In the last couple of months I have been working hard with the Manager and the Head Chef at the De Havilland to improve the specials offered and drive forward the food quality. This will remain our focus in the coming weeks and months. Please be assured that your comments, and those placed on the forum, are taken seriously.

| I have complained directly numerous times to Hall and Woodhouse regarding the food, service and hyigene at the pub and was always told that they would look into it- but nothing ever happens except the complaint is passed to the pub so the landlord knows who is complaining which then actually has put people off making offical complaints. |

The specials may be different. But they too are "Chosen" from a list issued by the brewery.
Why not let the Kitchen make something from all of there fresh ingredients ???? |

| We were at the de hav last night kids were hungry so got fish fingers and chips. Quality of fish fingers was rubbish and she only got two! my husband then forgot to order the drink with the meal deal and brought a seperate drink. Went back to bar and asked for refund for the drink. The moody bar man same one allways fobbed me off about it being the same price it worked out we only paid 4 pence more and he could not refund drink. The two men working there are awfull the women is great. |

Sad, but true.
I am getting tiered of complaining. The brewery should let the chef cook. I am sure he can.
Also a bit of customer service would not go amiss. |

Squidgey, same here! It's not The Ritz but then I don't expect it to be. The food is nice, it's local and it's walking distance so nobody has to drive. If I am ever served food which I dont think is good enough, I will tell the waiter or waitress there and then. I will continue to go there. It's a treat for me to be able to walk there, eat, drink and walk home again! |

| You say that but for only a few quid in a taxi, you would be surprised what you can get around here. |

The Donkey in Elstead / Tilford (just the other side of Farnham) is well worth the trip out. Book ahead though - it's relatively small and don't go just for drinks.

Point taken, but some don't
The choice is there, and not very far away.
Barley Mow, Phoenix for sure do far better food than the average pub. |

| Agree - the De Hav is not what it used to be - and despite the response from Hall and Woodhouse - we were told when speaking to one of the staff recently that it is pre portioned food and microwaved....so someone is telling porkie pies........... |
