I shall be planning on coming to 'De havilland' sometime in June for a meal with family and friends.

Can anyone tell me what kind of food shall be served?

Should I expect anything of the likes of a 'brewers fayre' type menu, or do you have a more elegant style?
Basically, is it possible to have a 3 course meal for as little as £7.99, or will we be charged the earth?

The food's OK but variable in quality. The menu has changed recently and you can finally get a burger - sorry, gourmet burger! I would say if you stick to the simple stuff like lasagne etc you'll be ok.

You won't get 3 courses for £7.99. The main courses are £6 - £12 unless you go for the "light bites" and the starters and puddings are a few quid each so you're looking at a tenner minimum really.

LoL, gourmet burger. And is that with chips, oops sorry French Fries?

Thanks Rob, I see this meal shall be a little more expensive than our usual 'monkey puzzle' meals, but I am sure it is worth the bother. Who knows I may bump into anyone of yous from here that night!?

Fromage instead of cheese and a slice of beetroot.

I'm not a fan of the Monkey Puzzle I'm afraid. I've been there a few times and been quite disappointed with the food.

We do go to the Harvester down the road quite often though. If you get there before 6.30pm it's really good value.

Why before 6.30pm?

Is that when the chef signs off from work, so any food ordered has been cooked previously keeping warm for anyone after 6.30pm?

Heh, no. Before 6.30pm you get the early bird menu which is the same but with a third off all the prices.

Nice to know you are comming to the de hav.

Hope you have a good experiance.

Onething that you might consider is that at any pooint in time you may be near the people who contribute to the forum. It is a good experiance to stand at the bar and wonder who may be some of the people that we chat to through cyber space. The thing is we never realy know.

Pleasse post your experiance for us all to hear.

Now, tell me where does it not mention a 3 course meal for £7.99?

Anyone, while racersteve uses his brain?

Now what was it I had, ah yes;
Starter: Potatoe skins filled with cheese and bacon.
Main: Scampi and Chips + garnish
After: Chocolate Fudge with cream
and all for just £7.99.

P.s. Crew4, it's a question of, will anyone give themselves away? I can be abit of an attention seeker at times, personally.

I'd be pleased to hear your recommendations for Fleet as I'm finding the food in the dehav really ordinary lately! Portions are smaller, quality has deteriorated and the service is a bit hit and miss too. I find the Manager grumpy and curt (and that's on his good days!), and the tables always need a good clean-up. Ho-hum, I guess things can only get better
