| I thought I'd create a poll with some actual options, and an other category for those I've missed. |

Heh, and making use of the "Other". I forgot the option for digging the lot up and planting some more trees.
Perhaps an adventure playground would be another as well. |

I've gone for the 'Other' option, and I think that, if you do that, you ought to state just what 'Other' it is that you favour.
Over the last couple of years, I've been involved with helping get the '100th Elvetham Heath Scout Group' going. It's now running at a pretty healthy pace with around 70 or so youngsters taking part every week, at Beaver, Cub and Scout level.
It needs premises. At present, the Beavers and Cubs meet at the church Hall, but that is really quite expensive. The Community Centre would be even more expensive, were it not already pretty well booked every evening. Due to the ages of the children, the Beavers and Cubs need to meet fairly early in the evening, and unfortunately that is prime booking time at the Community Centre.
Further, the Church has been reluctant to allow Scout meetings at the Hall because they fear that, as they are bigger than the Beavers and Cubs, they may be more boisterous and damage may ensue. So the Scouts have to traipse over to Ancells Farm for their meetings.
The group sizes are growing all the time and they have had to split the Cubs into two groups. So they need four meetings per week, one Beavers, two Cubs and one Scouts. It is quite likely that Beavers will increase to two meetings soon, so they will be up to five meetings.
As they are currently using booked space, they have to clear the premises of Beaver/Cub/Scout paraphenalia at the end of every session, so the place never really feels like 'theirs'.
What they need is a permanent base, preferably within the confines of the Heath. There are definite benefits to the neighbourhood here, as it gives the youngsters a focus, gives them something to do, and helps to develop a pride in the locality. It also helps to reinforce feelings of community and good behaviour. All the kids that take part are really good kids.
So I'd like the council to give the area over to be used for that purpose, with a grant to get premises put up.
And people can go into Fleet for their dry cleaning.

Sounds like quiet a large facility, if it takes up all the space ?
What about a bit of both |

It never worked as a Park and Ride and however many years later, it is just a piece of tarmac wasteland. I hope they build something on it but I doubt they will even come to us - the residents - for our opinion, or approval.
Let's hope they do something useful with it, and soon.

| Looks like I can edit the poll, but I'm not sure if people can vote again. In any event it seems there are a wide spread of opinions on what should be done. It's a shame more folks from EH don't come on the forum and give their opinions - as long as they're not the miserable types ;) |

The council is not the land owner - I believe it is Elvetham Heath Developments or the Calthorpe Estate.
What happens on this land will be largely up to what they decide to do with it. |
