As disgraceful as it may be, and i do agree with you on that point, the responsibility for health and safety within the pub lies with the pub.

They did put rules in place, as I've previously stated, and completely failed to enforce them. Friends and I witnessed this on several occasions. I don't see a problem parking in the 1 and 2 hour limited parking bays in Victoria and Branksomewood roads, which is where I usually go. There seems to be a common viewpoint that people in some way own the road outside their house - they don't. Of course some properties need on-road residential parking bays, but where properties have off-road parking, I think the assumption should be that the road should be available for people to park in for free, as long as it does not impede traffic flow or cause safety issues. However the council does not seem to think this way. It's a bit premature to talk about the town "dying", La Senza and Bon Marche have just gone bust so it's nothing to do with Fleet, really. It's a shame the former Woolworths unit hasn't been used, but I guess there aren't many retailers who need a unit of that size.
